Our Community Partners
Reston for a Lifetime is a 501c3 organization that joins with a number of partners who help fulfill our vision and mission. Many of our partners provide services to Reston’s older adults seeking to age in place. Still others are organizations that we work with to provide information and education to our website users and newsletter subscribers.
Shepherd’s Center of Northern Virginia assists older adults with aging in place through a variety of needed services (e.g. rides or minor home repairs provided by vetted volunteers), companionship and community.
Reston Useful Service Exchange enables neighbors to help each other through the exchange of services (e.g. rides, minor home repairs, computer help). No money changes hands, repayment is in kind.
Fellowship Square provides housing and supportive services for low-income older adults in Reston and the metro DC area, including the Hunter’s Woods Fellowship House and the New Lake Anne House.
The Jewish Council for the Aging (JCA) of Greater Washington sponsors Virtual 50+ Employment Expos in Northern Virginia that help older adults find jobs. JCA also partners with Fairfax County to support NV Rides which is administered by the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia.
Washington Area Villages Exchange
Reston for a Lifetime is a member of the Washington Area Villages Exchange that promotes aging in place through idea sharing among volunteer-driven organizations in the Metro DC area.
Positive Aging is an online community that helps make aging choices easier and more accessible. Its founder is an early supporter of Reston for a Lifetime and publisher of the Positive Aging Sourcebook.
Reston for a Lifetime is a member of the Village to Village Network which brings villages all across the country together to share best practices.
For more than 50 years, the Unitarian Universalist Church in Reston has been home to liberal religion in our area.
The Closet is a faith-based, volunteer-driven organization impacting lives through its nonprofit thrift shop in Herndon.
Living in Reston is like living in a park. Reston Association maintains over 1,350 acres of open space and a wide variety of facilities and programs plus year-round opportunities for fitness, fun and exploration.
Aging Matters is a weekly radio program presenting interviews with guests who provide information about aging related topics for older adults and their families. Find it on the website’s radio page and as podcast episodes.
